Biography

About Emanuele

Emanuele Crotti’s early passion for Greek mythology, introduced him to the timeless themes of metamorphosis and storytelling. After a degree in Semiotics of Arts, he studied theatre direction at Scuola Civica P. Grassi (Milano), where he was mentored by renowned figures such as Kuniaki Ida, Maria Consagra, and Gabriele Vacis. These experiences taught him the nuances of action, presence, and silence.

In 2012, Crotti moved to Berlin, where he shifted his focus from the stage to visual arts. His artistic practice flourished first at ECC (Weissensee) and later at Bethanien Kunstquartier in Kreuzberg. His works have been exhibited internationally, from Berlin to the USA, including Columbia University in New York.

Crotti's travels across Asia, particularly in China and Japan, deepened his understanding of the intersection between Western intellectual traditions and Eastern spirituality. Through continuous experimentations with different media and techniques, whether the gesture is immediate or intricate, instinctive or labyrinthine, one guiding principle remains at the heart of his work: “Whatever form it takes, Art is all about enchanting Time.”
